The RIGOLI estate lies in the heart of the Val di Cornia near the village of Cafaggio, halfway between the ancient towns of Campiglia Marittima and Suvereto. The lands of Cafaggio, protected by the Montepitti hills from the cold north winds, benefit from a microclimate and olives and wine have been cultivated there for several centuries,.The historian Isidoro Falchi, in the second half of the eighteenth century wrote:. ‘……..As you travel still further along that road you meet a vast extension of land called Cafaggio, covered in wonderful vineyards. The word Cafaggio, in fact, comes from the Longobard word Cafagium, meaning a delightful place….past Cafaggio, the road to Suvereto runs along the foot of the Montepitti Hill, which is today a vast olive grove….’ Which is why the lands of Cafaggio are spoken of as a famous corner of the Val di Cornia dedicated to wine and olives. The aim and concern of the business is directed at maintaining a harmonious environment in a natural balance where, whilst there is room for innovation in the methods used to develop the vines and the technology used in wine-making, the roots of tradition are adhered to. This attitude also gives weight to the production of extra virgin olive oil and millefiori honey. Other products are: extra virgin olive oil and millefiori honey. The fact that these products are so representative, is an indication of the will of the business to contribute to the preservation of nature. An aspect of the business to which we are particularly attached is our welcome. Opening the estate to visitors, showing them how we produce our goods and the environment in which we work, are all part of our traditional hospitality. |
